Davina Sowers of Davina and The Vagabonds on the Garden Stage at the Monterey Jazz Festival on Sept. 22, 2013. (Vern Fisher/Monterey County Herald)

“Minnesota’s Davina & The Vagabonds, for example, treated a standing-room-only crowd at the Garden Stage with a lively 90 minutes of ragtime, boogie woogie and New Orleans jazz Sunday night. The singer/pianist and her band were easily among the breakout stars at this year’s festival.” – Monterey Herald  (link to full article)

“MJF should waste no time in booking Minneapolis boogie-woogie tornado Davina and the Vagabonds for the Saturday afternoon slot on the main stage next year (assuming Trombone Shorty is busy). The group had more than enough of the good-time energy that spot demands, and singer/pianist Davina Sowers has charisma to spare.”
