Amazing things ahead..

brain-illustration

As always, it is a month filled with blessings,  reminders, and hope. Blessings of a dream come true, sharing our love of music and words. Reminders of all the hard work this band has done while wanting and wishing our notes to be shared with our friends and fans. We are only hoping to have many more opportunities ahead of us to do just that… play music.
We love what we do, and we do this because of the happiness, we hope, it brings you.

We are heading to Memphis TN, Clarksdale MS, and Champaign IL. These three places are dear to our hearts. We have many friends and fellow artist we are excited to run into in these cities.
Mort, (our van), is cleaned, packed, and ready to go. Ipod are filling and charged. Camera is swiped clean of past adventures, ready to be filled with more glimpses of our world.

We will be posting videos and pictures of our adventures in 2012.. Please feel free to spy on us through our posts. You are welcome to come along and share in the experiences.

Minnesota Music Cafe – Get Out of Town Fundraiser

Screen shot 2012-01-24 at 1.05.16 PM

We played at the Minnesota Music Cafe this past Sunday. We were helping our Twin Cities Road to Memphis winners raise money to go to Memphis and compete in the International Blues Competition, just like we did in 2008.  It was PACKED with great Minnesota blues musicians and was a breath of fresh air to see our community helping these musicians achieve their goals and dream. This competition will give them wonderful opportunities and exposure. I can not wait to see how they do and how they grow.

Hurricane Harold Tremblay (KFAI radio – Jeff Ray and Hurricane Harold – Gang of Mischief)  organized this wonderful event.  And our very own Minnesota Blues Society was there to help.

Dean Tollefsrud was there with his camera.. These are the shots he got of DATV.. I make a lot of funny faces…geesh! Here is the FULL Album of all the great musicians there –> FULL GALLERY

Black Cloud Marc Silvers Favorite in Washington Post Express

Screen shot 2011-12-30 at 8.55.38 AM

Express columnists aren’t automatons who output opinions or dispense advice, then turn off for the week (even if they may sometimes feel that way). They all watch television, for instance. And futz around on the Internet. Some of them even read books and eat food! For the last Express of the year, they were each commanded to reveal their favorite diversions of 2011.

It reads:

Davina Sowers, of Davina and the Vagabonds.

“Black Cloud” by Davina and the Vagabonds: Davina Sowers is many women in one: Betty Boop, Mae West, rollicking blues-tinged pianist, vaudevillian show-off. She shines like a slightly wacky star on her new album, especially on the title song, in which she seductively petitions “Mr. Lucky Man” to remove the Black Cloud that hangs over her light.
