Andrew Burns is a multifaceted bassist from the Twin Cities, MN. In 2011 he earned his Bachelor’s in Music Performance from McNally Smith College of Music, and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Bass Performance. Originally an electric bass player focused on rock, blues, and funk, Andrew expanded his scope to jazz and added upright bass to his arsenal. In college, he fell in love with the brass band music of New Orleans, and took up sousaphone to join his school’s brass band. All of these influences converged when Andrew Joined Davina and the Vagabonds in 2013.
When not performing or recording with DATV, Andrew plays sousaphone with McNasty Brass Band and teaches private music lessons. In his spare time, he composes original jazz for horns and electric bass, plays boardgames, and perfects his homebrewed beer.
